The unscheduled visit to the site is to ensure readiness for the commencement of Court of Appeal, Awka on 5th February, 2020 in line with the Federal Government's approval.

Recall that on the December 13, 2018, the Governor inaugurated a Committee and charged them to facilitate and secure an approval for a Court of Appeal in Anambra State.

The Committee which had Barr. Dr. Mrs. Uju Nwogu, the State Attorney General; Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN as Chairman; Dr. Emeka Etieaba SAN; Hon. Justice Iguh (SCJ, Rtd); and MR. Pat Igwebuike as Secretary, delivered as mandated.

The Court of Appeal, Awka in Anambra State will be located at the Old Customary Court and Customary Court of Appeal Administrative Block which would be able to accommodate the staff and other needed facilities therein.

It's on record that over 60% of cases at the Court of Appeal in Enugu emanate from Anambra State.

Thus, Gov Obiano who was impressed with the quality and pace of work assured that the Court of Appeal will commence sitting in Awka by next month, just as scheduled.
