Police arrest suspects over murder of PDP member in Oyo

Oyo State Police Command has arrested nine suspects over the murder of Hakeem Mudashiru, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) grassroots mobiliser in Oyo town.

Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Ibadan, Thursday, disclosed that those in custody include a female.

Mudashiru was hacked to death in his father's house on Wednesday by suspected political thugs.

The PPRO confirmed the case is being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

Preliminary investigation showed the deceased was attacked by hoodlums after a heated argument.

The death of Hakeem, 40, was reported by his father, Jimoh Agala, at Durbar Divisional Police Headquarters on Wednesday, at about 1.35 p.m.

Osifeso said police operatives had been deployed to the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
