Anambra moves against traffic offenders

Anambra State Government has expressed displeasure over violation of traffic rules and regulations in the state

A release signed by the  Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike,  cautioned against indiscriminate loading and unloading of vehicles on unauthorised sections of the roads and highways, driving against traffic, tricycles plying the highways, disobedience to traffic lights and personnel, abandoning of broken down and unserviceable vehicles on the public roads, trading on the roads and streets and other similar activities causing traffic congestions and disorderliness on Anambra roads.

The release further warned all motorists to desist from such deviant behaviours and flagrant violation of extant State Road Traffic Law and Regulations forthwith to avoid unpleasant consequences.

The commissioner  ordered  owners of broken down and unserviceable vehicles and other wreckages on Anambra roads to remove them within the next 72 hours or risk forfeiting such to the state government.

“Kindly note that with effect from Monday, 2nd May, 2022, any motorist apprehended for violating Anambra State Road Traffic Laws and Regulations will have his /her vehicle impounded and detained for a minimum of fourteen (14) days without option of fine. In addition, such offenders shall produce evidence of tax payments in Anambra State and sign undertaking to be of good behaviour.

“Moreover, those arrested for ” One-Way” driving shall undergo mental evaluation at designated government hospital at their own cost”, the release stated even as it  called on motorists to comply accordingly.
