Former PG Nise Town Union Onor Marks 70th Birthday With Thanksgiving



A one-time President General of Nise Town Union in Awka South Local Area Chief Chris Onor has marked his seventieth birthday with thanksgiving in his country home Nise.

The celebration which kicked off with a holy mass at Saint. Mary’s Catholic Church Nise Out Station, attracted family, friends, well-wishers of the celebrant, as well as members of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Nise and was officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor.

Correspondent Emmanueluskonkwo reports that the event was a momentarily uuuuû of thanksgiving to God for His blessing on Chief Chris Onor with longevity, as it is not easy for one to attain the age of seventy.

The main celebration which took place at Chief Onor’s compound in Obuno Isiakpu village Nise, saw friends and well-wishers with various gift items for the celebrant.

Speaking at the event, the Celebrant, Chief Onor who narrated how God severally saved him from death, thanked God for blessing him with long life, and promised that his remaining years on earth is for service to God and humanity.

  The first and last sons of the celebrant, Dr Ifeanyi Onor, and Mr Kizito Onor described their father as a living legend, a man of integrity and honour, who has continued to prove himself a true father, saying that he groomed them into useful men to God, their family and humanity in general, and prayed God to add more years to him.

The only daughter of the celebrant, Mrs Obianuju Onor-Ojukwu expressed gratitude to God for keeping their father alive to witness his seventieth birthday, praying that he continue to live in good health.

  The President Rotary club of Awka Nnamdi Azikiwe University Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor in a message described the celebrant Chief Onor as a man with heart of gold and wished him more fruitful years ahead.

During the holy mass, the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Nise Out Station, which was single handedly built by Chief Onor was blessed and dedicated by the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Ezeokafor who charged Christians to always use their wealth in propagating the gospel and helping the needy.

  Dance by the celebrant in company of family and friends, as well as special rendition by Ever Green Choir, added glamour to the event.

The celebrant Chief Onor, is the Chairman Board of Directors of Nice MicroFinance Bank Limited Nise.
