Police have arrested a man, Eyo Eta, for allegedly stealing and escaping with his boss’ car on the Ijebu-Mushin/Benin Expressway, in Ogun State.

Eta was said to be fleeing with a Toyota Highlander SUV with number plate APP 467 GS when he was nabbed by the men of Ogun State Police Command.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was stopped by men of the Federal Highway Patrol team around 9.30 pm at the Imeri junction, Ijebu-Mushin while leaving for Benin.

The PPRO stated, “When he was stopped by the policemen, he was unable to give satisfactory answers to all the questions posed to him and he was subsequently taken to the station for more questioning.

“It was at the station that he confessed to taking the car away to Benin City, unknown to the owner.

“The DPO, Ijebu-Mushin, CSP Hillary Simire, there and then put a call to the owner of the car, who identified himself simply as Omopariola, and explained to the police on the phone that the driver went away with the vehicle from Lagos and that he had already reported the case to the police.”

Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had commanded that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
