Cleric bemoans decay, backwardness in Nigeria

An Onitsha based cleric, Ikenna Ofodile, has said that only God had solution to the  various problems confronting Nigeria including insecurity, Kidnapping, banditry, corruption and others.

The prophet, who is the pastor of City of Salvation Ministry, Onitsha, spoke when the executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Tuesday.

The man of God regretted the moral decadence in the society, which he blamed on indiscipline, poor parenting and get rich quick syndrome among youths in society.

He stated that Nigeria was endowed with huge human and material resources but regretted that the opportunities were being mindlessly wasted by the failure of people to follow the dictates of God, noting that trust in God is the answer to many problems of mankind.

Prophet Offodile said that he had a burden to reverse the nation’s woes, particularly those of the youth hence his ministry was organising a three-day cnference with the theme, 'Authority and Power' with the aim of seeking God’s Solution to those numerous problems besetting the nation and the youths, saying he believes that God holds great promise for Nigeria and her youths.

He disclosed that the conference, which will begin on Thursday, February 18, to Sunday, February 21, would be attended by people from all walks of life in Nigeria and beyond ans will also provide solutions to the issues of divorce, juvenile delinquency and martial problems prevalent in the nation, adding that other intractable problems that held the nation down, and created disunity among its people will be addressed.

The City of Salvation Ministry prelate  advised the youth to be patient and have faith in God to enable them perfect His plans for them in life.

Responding, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Anambra State Council, Sir Emmanuel Ifesinachi decried the declining moral tone in the society and urged Prophet Offodile to pray for restoration of the nation’s moral values to enable  youths to be fully equipped to provide future leadership for the nation.
