NOC President Engr Habu Ahmed Gumel

NIGERIA Olympic Committee (NOC) has announced its plan to begin training of Directors of Sports of Nigerian universities.

The will hold across country as the heads of the sports sectors of the universities will gather for the first phase of the exercise in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.

A release issued earlier today (Tuesday, September 5) by the public relations officer (PRO) of NOC,  Tony Nezianya, informed that the body plans, in this restarting series of  professional training, to conduct "a comprehensive training program for Directors of Sports in Nigerian universities."

He explains: "This program, which is a collaboration between the Olympic Movement, and the Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA),  began in 2019 to provide top-notch training for university athletes.

''One of the primary objectives is to promote Olympism and instil the three core values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect among the athletes.

''We firmly believe that by involving the custodians of university athletes in this program, we can better achieve these objectives.''

The PRO appraised that results of previous training programs strengthen NOC's belief that "the participation of university athletes' custodians would be crucial, especially considering that a significant number of the National athletes come from universities."

The seminars will hold in four NUGA zones in this order:

University of Ibadan  - Sept. 5 to Sept. 8, 2023.

University of Abuja  - Sept.  12 - Sept. 15, 2023.

Port Harcourt (IAUE) - Sept. 19 to Sept. 22, 2023.

Sule Lamido University Jigawa  - Sept. 26  to Sept. 29, 2023.

NOC urged all Directors of Sports in Nigeria universities to take advantage of the opportunity and join us in realising Nigeria's vision in sports.
