2023: Osinbajo takes campaign to Anambra

As supporters remain upbeat; confident of swooping state’s delegates

Ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Anambra state by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, his campaign organization has enjoined delegates from the state to identify with the growing acceptance of his presidential aspiration.

The Vice President is scheduled to meet with the about 170 All Progressives Congress, APC delegates on the sidelines of his state visit.

Basking in the euphoria of Vice President Osinbajo’s emergence as the preferred candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2023, Chuks Chukwueto, coordinator of The Osinbajo Grassroots Organisation, Anambra state chapter, boasted that the state would not be left out of the victory march.

“You would recall that a nationwide survey recently carried out by the Intellectual Forum on Politics and Governance, IFP&G, indicated that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo emerged as the preferred successor to Mr. President.

“Carried out in February, 2022, the survey had asked Nigerians to pick their choice from a shortlist that included national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; and former Kano state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso,” Chukwueto said.

In deed, according to a statement signed by the trio of Professor Nasiru Yauri, deputy chairman; Professor Yahaya Baba, organising secretary; and Professor Ike Ogba, member, South East, IFP&G stated that “Analysis of the results clearly indicated that Vice President Demi Osinbajo was the citizens’ choice as the next President of Nigeria.”

A random sample of 12,000 names from the database of registered voters spread across all the geopolitical zones was reportedly use in arriving at the outcome of the poll.

Aggregated results from the polling indicated that Osinbajo emerged as the favourite by garnering 42.50 per cent, almost double the 25.51 per cent polled by Atiku who placed second.

The Vice President, according to the survey, led in the South West, South East and South South zones, while Atiku led in the North East, and Kwankwaso, North West.

“Tomorrow’s interface with Anambra delegates, to my mind, is only meant to reaffirm the people’s support for the VP, as well as serve as a thank you visit, to let the people know that their labour of love is not unappreciated.”
