Ekiti 2022: I’ve never failed in elections, Bola Tinubu boasts

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has said that he has never failed in an election before.

Tinubu said this at APC the rally held on Tuesday in Ekiti ahead of the governorship election in the state to drum up support for the party’s candidate in the election, Biodun Oyebanji.

The governorship election in the state is slated for Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Tinubu said, “I’ve never failed an election before.”

Tinubu, who also spoke in the Yoruba language told the people to vote so that they can get money. He said, “To ba t’eka, o le te owo o” meaning, “if you don’t vote, you can’t hold money.”

Tinubu also said the “Peoples Democratic Party is a poverty development party,” urging the people of the state to vote for the APC in the state and the 2023 presidential election.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, on Tuesday, had also assured the Ekiti electorate that necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure transparency and security on Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

While Yakubu reassured the Ekiti people that the decision of who would become the next governor of the state would be that of the electorate through their votes, Baba said necessary security deployment had been made so that people could cast their votes without fear of molestation and that the votes would count.

The INEC chairman and the police chief spoke in Ado Ekiti, the state’s capital, during the Election Stakeholders’ Meeting on Ekiti State Governorship Election attended by party leaders and candidates of participating parties, security agencies, and civil society organizations.
