You Lack The Power To Remove Me As Governor – Gov. Umahi Blows Hot

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has reacted to the ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja, removing him as Governor of the state.

The governor said Justice Inyang Ekwo lacks the power to remove him from office as governor.

Umahi stressed that he is still the governor of the state irrespective of the court’s decision.

Briefing Newsmen in his office, Governor Umahi described the ruling as “jungle justice that was purchased”.

He also described the Judgement as embarrassing citing that there is no section in the Nigeria Constitution whereby a serving Governor or his Deputy could be sacked because they defected to another political party.

The governor said except he resigns or he is impeached by the state Assembly, no one can remove him and his Deputy from office.

Governor Umahi was earlier today sacked from office alongside his Deputy and other lawmakers in the state by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had approached the court, asking for Umahi’s removal after he defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
