Former AGF, Mohammed Adoke freed from EFCC custody
Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of
Justice, Mohammed Adoke (SAN) has regained his freedom from EFCC's custody
after being arraigned this morning before a Federal High Court in Abuja on new
charges of money laundering.
Adoke who was arrested on December 19, 2019 after returning
to Nigeria from a self-imposed exile, was granted bail by Justice Binta Nyako
after being arraigned before the court today February 10.
Justice Binta subsequently ordered the release of the former
AGF after his counsel Mike Ozekhome disclosed that his client had fulfilled the
conditions attached to a previous and similar bail he (Adoke) was granted by
Gwagwalada Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja
on January 30.
Adoke who was
released alongside co-defendant, Aliyu Abubakar who is being accused of paying
a dollar equivalent of N300m into the former AGF's account, departed the court
in Ozekhome’s car at about 3.15pm
