Federal Lawmaker Empowers Over 1000 Afikpo Youths, Women On Agricultural Scheme

The Honorable Member, Representing Afikpo North/South Federal Constituency and Vice-Chairman House Committee on Appropriation,Under People's Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Iduma Igariwey, has   embarked on another agricultural empowerment training programme for youths and women in Afikpo North/South Federal Constituency.

Hon Igariwey who embarked on  two-day intensive training session said that the programme is part of his quest to help the youth and women become self reliant and also to improve their economic status in their various communities.

He  added that the scheme captured training and theories on improved farming mechanisms and also the provision and distributions of farming kits and  monetary incentives as  start up capital to the farmers.

The lawmaker stressed that for improved agricultural productivity, rural dwellers need deeper knowledge on improved agricultural methods thus, the need for the training.

"We believe that crops like watermelon  and cucumbers  can survive and do well on our soil, the need to embark on this programme. We reached out to professionals, who are here to help us train our people. Nigeria and our state can achieve food sufficiency, if proper investment is done in mechanized agriculture"

He reassured the participants of his continued support to  them, especially those who would put the knowledge earned from the training to good use.
