Anambra Community Launches Own Vigilante Network

While speaking, a representative of the newly vigilante group said, “They cannot keep waiting for Governor Willie Obiano and his much touted but invisible heavy security architecture in the state.”

A community in Onitsha, Onicha Ado, Anambra State on Saturday formed a security apparatus, Onicha Ado Vigilante Network, to curb the spate of insecurity in its domain.

While speaking, a representative of the newly vigilante group said, “They cannot keep waiting for Governor Willie Obiano and his much touted but invisible heavy security architecture in the state.”

The inauguration had in attendance traditional chiefs, with the launch of operational vehicles to aid their work.

The floating of the security network might not be unconnected with the murder of security operatives by gunmen in the state in recent times.

Five policemen and a naval officer were killed by gunmen at Neni junction in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

During the attacks, their security vehicle was also burnt by the assailants and their guns carted away.

It was also gathered that Governor Obiano had jetted out to Houston, Texas amidst the rising insecurity in the state.
