Nine Communites May Not Celebrate Christmas With Electricity In Anambra
The aforementioned communites of Njikoka , Dunukofia and
Awka-south local government areas may have to grope in the dark during the
yuletide and afterwards until the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company ( EEDC
) fixed the problem .

Company , Mr.Emeka Ezeh made this known in a release made available to
journalists in Awka , the Anambra state capital .
The electricity distribution company expressed great concern
at incessant attacks on its installations , stressing that such unpatriotic
attitudes towards its networks and power lines were not in the best interest of
its numerous esteemed customers in Anambra state.
The release read thus : " The Enugu Electricity
Distribution PLC (EEDC) regrets to inform her esteemed customers under
Enugwu-Ukwu 33KV line that the current loss of supply being experienced is as a
result of the vandalism of the 33KV network feeding them, which radiates from
Agu Awka Transmission Substation, Awka, Anambra State.
The line which was discovered vandslised in the early hours
of Sunday, 8th December, 2019, feeds
Enugwu-Ukwu, Abagana, Ukpo and Nimo 11KV feeders.
Materials carted away include five spans of aluminum
conductors, all fiber crossarms and 33KV pot insulators, in addition, a broken
High Tension pole.
Consequently, our customers in the entire Enugwu-Ukwu,
Abagana, Ukpo, Nimo, Nawfia, Umuokpu, Abba, Ifitedunu and parts of Amawbia are
without electricity supply.
Plans are on to address this challenge and we assure our
customers that supply will be restored as soon as repairs/replacement are
completed.
EEDC remains committed to providing her esteemed customers
with improved service delivery, while soliciting for their continued support in
ensuring that such incidents does not occur in the network. "
