Road crash claims 2 lives, injure 4 along Enugu-Onitsha roads

Fatal road accidents along Enugu-Onitsha roads, Onitsha and Ugwuoba axis had claimed two lives and left Four persons seriously  wounded,

 

The  first accident which occurred along Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Onitsha, Anambra state.

 

around 11pm , Monday night involved a green colored Mitsubishi bus and a M/Benz truck..The accident  crushed to death Two persons.

 

An Eye witness said the deceased, the conductor and one of the passengers in the bus were pushing the faulty bus when the truck v into them, killing them instantly.

 

“The truck driver didn’t see the bus on time because it was already night and had to run into it, killing the conductor and the passenger who were pushing the bus out of the road,” he said.

 

Confirming the incident, Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kamal Musa said the corpses were deposited at the morgue after doctor’s confirmation.

 

He said, “Two male adults were killed in a fatal road traffic crash involving a Green Mitsubishi bus with registration number JJT 943 XA and a M/Benz truck with registration number FGG 612 YG allegedly occurred as a result of road obstruction by a broken down bus with out a caution sign to notify the on coming vehicles.

 

“Information reaching the Command states that a total of Five (5) male adults were involved in the crash ( 2) male adults who sustained varying degree of injuries were rushed to Toronto hospital Onitsha by FRSC rescue team from Onitsha Unit Command in Collaboration with men of the NPF Onitsha.

 

“The dead victims were deposited at the morgue after doctor’s confirmation. Obstruction has been cleared and normal traffic flow restored.

 

“The Sector Commander, Andrew Kumapayi sends his condolences to the deceased family and wishes the injured victims quick recovery.

 

“He warns drivers of broken down vehicles to ensure adequate caution sign is displayed to notify on-coming vehicles and avoid further crashes.”


 

 Similarly, a fatal accident  occurred on Tuesday along Enugu-Onitsha old road, Ugwuoba. The accident which involved Siena(Red) fully loaded with goods and an 18 Sitter bus carrying  full gallons of palm oil , bags of flour and two women had a head on collision.

 

The driver of the Siena was on top speed and was heading towards Enugu while the bus was heading towards Onitsha when they collided.

 

Both the drivers and passengers were badly injured and the Siena driver was ijn serious danger. The drivers were dodging pot holes on the road  before the collision..

 

Passengers in other vehicles and  men of the Federal Road safety Corps, FRSC, Ugwuoba, Oji River local government area  rushed to the scene of the accident promptly to rescue the victims. They were taken to an undisclosed hospital.
