Land Dispute : Police Recovers 53 Old Man Corpse In Ebonyi

The body of 53-year-old man identified as Joseph Isu who was declared miss­ing after a clash between Amata Akpoha and Ezeke Amasiri over a land/dispute ownership has been recovered from Amasiri river with a heavy stone hung in his neck.

 

In a statement issued by Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah who disclosed it.

 

The statement read, “You would recalled that on Sep­tember 28, 2020 one Joseph Isu aged 53 was declared missing by the family after the attack on Amata Akpo­ha people at the farmland by suspected Ezeke Amasiri Community over land/quar­ry ownership where three persons were also report­ed injured and were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

 

“The search party or­ganised by the Afikpo north Divisional Police Officer (DPO) has on October 1, 2020 recovered the body of the said Mr. Joseph packaged in a cellophane bag with heavy stone hanging round his neck, with gunshot in­jury on his right leg and his stomach cut wide open. The corpse has been deposited at Matha Memorial Hospital Mortuary for preservation and Autopsy.

 

However, the Com­missioner of Police Ebonyi State, Philip Sule Maku, who bemoaned 0ver the incident , While also urged the deceased family  and the people of Amata Akpoha Community in Afikpo North LGA of the state to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands as he has or­dered full scale investigation into the matter with a view to arresting and prosecuting the assailants.
