Ejikeme Appeal Obiano to Investigate Oraifite Crisis
Ejikeme made the call through a press statement signed by
himself and Mr Ifeanyi Ilukwe, the Public Relations Officer of the association
and made available to Journalist on Monday
in Awka.
The statement condemned the manner of the incidence that
happened at Mr Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s country home at Ifite Oraifite where homes
were burnt and lives lost and appealed to people to always act within the ambit
of the law .
The association condemned in totality the extrajudicial
killings of police officers and innocents citizens of the state on December 2
at Ekwusiego Local Government Area of Anambra and said the situation could have
been handled better.
He said that the association was sad over the wanton
destructions of lives and properties of
lawful citizens and inflicted injuries on unsuspecting citizens who were
carrying out their legitimate businesses .
Ejiekeme said that such unguarded actions do not portray the
image of the state in very good light before the international community .
He therefore appealed to the Anambra state Governor Chief
Willie Obiano to investigate the matter
in other to get to the root of the case and proffer lasting solutions that would restore peaceful
co existence between the citizens and police force.
“ People should not take laws into their hands and act based
on assumptions which would infringe on
other people’s fundamental rights” he said .
The statement also appealed to the police force to handle
the case with best practices principle and ensure they restore the confidence
and credibility of the police force before the citizens and the international community.
Ejikeme said as proud Anambra citizens that the association
reiterated its commitment to peace, safety, security of the state and the
nation at large and appealed to all the people to abstain from taking laws into
their own hand.
The statement urged the police force to handle the case with utmost professionalism its
deservers’and place the image of the police in a very professional manner.
Ejikeme said that the association commiserate with the
police force over the unfortunate killings of its officers as well as the
families that lost their loved ones and properties at the incidents.
